One of my favorite things to do is talk with other Christian music songwriters and producers about their journey in music. The young music makers I've met over the year all desire to level-up their skills and craft but feel stuck. The common denominator? They hit a point where they just need somebody to be a consistent voice of both affirmation and constructive criticism. Someone to encourage and equip them to grow in their calling.
The greatest thing that happened to me early on in my career was having a couple of mentors in my life impart the practical, musical, and entrepreneurial knowledge of this industry. With those mentors I was able to consistently and confidently grow in my abilities as a producer and songwriter. Now, 20+ years later I want to help the next generation of producers and songwriters thrive in their career.

ABOUT CHRIS
Chris Clayton is a CCM/Worship producer and songwriter based in Franklin, TN (a suburb of Nashville, TN). A born and raised Texan, Chris and his family moved to Nashville, TN in 2016 after signing his first publishing deal but has been working and investing in artists and churches for over twenty years. In addition to his production and songwriting work, Chris has served the local church as a worship leader both in a staff and itinerant capacity.
Chris is credited on projects with a variety of artists including Big Daddy Weave, Josh Baldwin/Bethel Music, Keith & Kristyn Getty, Shane and Shane, Christine D'Clario, Kristene DiMarco, Natalie Layne, CityAlight, Dustin Smith, Skye Reedy just to name a few. Chris has also written on and/or produced records for some the largest churches in America including The Belonging Co., Houston's First Baptist Church, Valley Creek Church, Pinelake Church, and Crossroads Church. In addition, Chris was nominated as a songwriter in 2018 for the Gospel Music Association Canada Covenant Award for Pop Song of the Year.
Chris resides in the Nashville area with his beautiful and amazing wife Kara, and their five awesome kids. When he is not in the studio you can find him in the back yard pulling together an amazing BBQ feast or hanging out with family and friends.

WHAT IS THIS?
Does your church write songs and desire to grow as a songwriting team? Or are you wanting to build a songwriting culture within your worship community? Chris loves coming in to churches and hosting a 2 day (usually a Friday night and all day Saturday) boot-camp style event where he teaches on both the heart and mechanics of songwriting for Church. Session topics include the "why" behind writing for the Church, lyrics and melody writing, song structure, song mapping, songwriting administration, basic demo production and more. In addition this event includes a co-writing session for participants and live song critiques with Chris. Sound interesting? Let's talk more details!
